Lord's Prayer Language Medley

Check out this cool language medley we did as part of our Lord's Prayer series this Lent.

Thanks to Sarah Palsma for helping to make this happen!

Lord's Prayer Language Medley

Sometimes it can be frustrating when a worship leader asks a congregation to sing in some strange African language, or a pastor insists on a passage of scripture to be read in Spanish. I've found myself at times thinking, "Ok, why did we just do that?"

I think there are many reasons why we should sing songs from around the world, many of which can be articulated much better by those who specialize in global christian music i.e. John Bell of the Iona Comminity in Scotland or Greg Scheer (check out his website!) I think the most simple of reasons may be that it helps us think outside of ourselves. As Christians we are part of a much greater community than just our church, or even our denomination. As God's family we are connected to Christians everywhere and it is important that we remember that.

What do you think are some other justifications to sing global songs?

Blessings,
Jordan
